Personality Assessment: Myers-Briggs

As a part of one of our portfolio items we took a personality assessment.  The assessment that we chose for our BUSI 2200 course was the Myers-Briggs type.  As you may already know this test is used by many companies to catch a glimpse into the personality type of its employees.  Enabling them to better match employees to certain work positions.  My result was an INTJ.  Not only is this personality type rare, but it is extremely rare in women, therefore I am twice as unique.

Introversion

We introverts thrive when left alone in our private paradise.  That said make no mistake about it we do not dislike people and we do enjoy being around them.

It is just that for us being overstimulated overloads us and takes away from our energy levels.  Despite common misconceptions many of us are social people and enjoy socialization.

Intuition

This trait embodies me in so many ways.  I often like to feel situations out before I involve myself in them.  I also prefer to work from the outside in.

I do not start with the details first.  I have to see the larger picture before I start a project.  I also possess a tendency to be a dreamer and the desire to do what has not been done before.

Thinking

I am a very pensive person.  I like to mow things over before I make decisions.  I prefer to have a slice of time to weigh in all considerations.

I also approach my working relationships with individuals from a more logical than social perspectives.  This does not mean I do not regard the feelings of others.  I simply do not allow them to get in the way of what tasks must be done.

Judgement

I do tend to plan things out in advance.  Even if it is something as simple as a grocery shopping trip.  My discovery of a task list app Keep has made me even more of a planner.

In the same token I try not to get too hung up on details.  Once I have what I need, I am eager to begin work on my task(s).  When I get in my zone and my Pandora is playing, I accomplish a lot!
